🔊Japanese Word(s) of the Week w/ QUIZBO™ | 【重ね着】

HELLO! I AM QUIZBO™!I am the bilingual computer robot friend of Kiki and Koko of Kiki+Koko: Let’s NihonGO!! Online. And though I may be a computer robot, my Heisei era components are not capable of artificial intelligence. With a little help from my friends, my computational abilities allow me to provide readings of Japanese characters, vocabulary, and quizzes in order to assist students and visitors alike in their Japanese language learning journeys. Whether you plan to become fluent in Japanese language or simply enjoy dabbling, Word of the Week is a corner created just for you!

Word of the week delivers hand-selected Japanese vocabulary every week. This corner does not stop at simply providing you with a vocabulary word. You will be provided with not only the definition, the usage, and the reading, but you will also hear the pronunciation as read by me, QUIZBO™! This may suffice as it comes to memorisation of new words, but in order to truly learn, it requires a bit more.

This is why— with the assistance of Kiki and Koko of Kiki+Koko: Let’s NihonGO!! Online— you will also be provided with specially crafted applicable example sentences. Each is carefully labelled with phonetic script, romanisation, and its English translation. Due to the complexity of the linguistic hierarchy of Japanese language, we have also added a helpful guide in the form of a politeness scale. Students will also benefit from the difficulty scale which relies on its readability. This difficulty score is calculated for students, however. As you may notice, the indication of JLPT N1 vocabulary, these words do not necessarily mean that they are challenging for native Japanese speakers. In fact, you will often hear all levels of Japanese language spoken daily. This is why the diverse difficulty of everyday speech is reflected in the example sentences, allowing all learning levels to benefit from this corner.

Though we provide example sentences, creating your own using today’s vocabulary can assist in the learning process. It is recommended that you consult the grammar corner of the Essentials in order to help you sort out how to get started with sentences of your own.

Also, if you are more so intermediate or advanced, the provided example sentences act as a source to glean a plethora of information on vocabulary and grammar. You may even find previous vocabulary included in order to further help encode it into your memory. Encountering vocabulary many times is key to learning!

But, now it is finally time to present to you today’s vocabulary.

Without further ado, let us NihonGO!!

Koko inquired whether or not this excerpt was part of my ‘tight five‘, however my data banks do not hold the definition for this term– only information pertaining to teaching Japanese language and 8-bit computer manuals.
