🔊Japanese Word(s) of the Week w/ QUIZBO™ | 【観賞】+【鑑賞】(+観賞と鑑賞の違いは?)

10 minutes

HELLO! I AM QUIZBO™!You may recognise me from such corners as 「Word of the Weekday w// QUIZBO™」, 「Closer Look w//QUIZBO™」, or 「McGarnagle」. The third was simply a diversion of expectations, following the rule of three, ergo creating comedy. It is my hope that my humorous assertion brought you laughter. You may actually recognise me as the computer robot friend of Kiki and Koko from Kiki+Koko: Let’s NihonGO!! Online, providing character readings, vocabulary, quizzes, and more. Whether you are just beginning your Japanese language learning journey or you have been on said journey for quite some time, there is always something new to discover with Word of the Week

Word of the Week presents you with hand selected Japanese vocabulary every week. However, this is not your ordinary Word of the Week styled corner. You will be provided with not only the definition, usage, and reading, but you will also be able to hear the pronunciation of each vocabulary word by me, QUIZBO™. However, application is paramount to retaining vocabulary. That is why, with the help of Kiki+Koko: Let’s NihonGO!! Online, you will also be provided Japanese example sentences. Each is neatly labelled with its original script, phonetic Japanese script (ひらがな), romanisation, and English translation. Japanese language has a complex linguistic hierarchy which may be difficult to navigate, but in order to make it a bit easier, each sentence also contains a politeness scale. And, for students, there is also a difficulty scale.

Though we provide example sentences, creating your own using today’s vocabulary can assist in the learning process. It is recommended that you consult the grammar corner of the Essentials in order to help you sort out how to get started with sentences of your own.

Also, if you are more so intermediate or advanced, the provided example sentences act as a source to glean a plethora of information on vocabulary and grammar. You may even find previous vocabulary included in order to further help encode it into your memory. Encountering vocabulary many times is key to learning!

Kiki and Koko will be joining us for their regular Helpful Hints corner! This is not to be confused with their special Helpful Hints with Kiki+Koko Mini-Podcast. This explanation relies heavily on visual elements, and the vocabulary words that will be explored today are homophones which would become quite confusing in an auditory medium. However, do not fret, dear listeners, as new episodes will arrive.

But, now it is finally time to present to you today’s vocabulary.

Without further ado, let us NihonGO!!
