Not quite ready to put your skills to the test? Have another look at the main lesson~! It’s only a tap, click, or [whatever-other-sort-of-selection-method-emerges-in-future] away!

こんにちにゃあ~!Welcome to Kiki+Koko: Let’s NihonGO!! Online, adding more and more Japanese language and culture learning resources multiple times a week for your enjoyment and educational pleasure. We’re your hosts, your guides through the world of linguistics and life. We’re here with our friend, QUIZBO™, to test your knowledge on the latest blends. After you’ve gotten a taste, we hope you have a grasp of the concepts and flavours surrounding them. Of course, not everyone’s palate is as quick to identify after only revising for a few days. And, if you’re returning to previous lessons to be sure you continue to keep them fresh in your mind until they become second nature, then we understand you may or may not be ready to test your skills. But, luckily, for those looking for a way to revise, this is a useful activity that can put yourself in the thick of it with a tangible way of revising. Though we also recommend a good once-over for quick revision as often as you fancy, this can be a useful and quick activity that we hope you’ll not only enjoy, but also get great use. So, grab a cuppa and test your skills or just have a go at revising! We’ll answer the age-old question for you: Do You Know 「しゃしゅしょ」?

In this, the important factor is differentiation. And in differentiating  拗音, youonyou shouldn’t have a difficult time if you did well with 濁点, dakuten, and 半濁点, handakuten, modifications of 五十音順、gojuuonjun. And, even if you’re still working on those, we understand! Take your time! It’s best not to rush these things. Be patient with yourself and take it a step at a time. No matter the pacing, we’ll be there for you. That’s the beauty of learning digitally with us! If you like to go faster or revise very specific things, you can go back any time or do some of the suggested activities to learn even more. This is why we present segments like Word of the Week Wednesday to give you those extra chances, or for those who simply want to dabble or learn things in a more random way that they may not have been able to experience in a linear learning system. Though, of course, every lesson is meant to build upon each other, we do understand not everyone’s learning is so linear. So, when it comes to learning vocabulary, you don’t necessarily have to worry about order, but when it comes to grammar and writing, we do definitely recommend you do your best to master the previous lessons before moving too far ahead. That’s not to say it’s not useful to keep up with the latest, as it can make things easier down the road, as long as you keep your expectations realistic. And, again, if you do your best with a leisurely pace, we’re also here for you, too! No matter time, day or night, you can take as little or as much time as often as you need.

頑張りましょうよ!☆Let’s do our best!

And, here to take it at your pace with you: we mentioned him in the intro, and now he’s here to help! We have our computer friend, QUIZBO™, here to read each of the hiragana aloud to you. Press the 「▶」button and listen to the pronunciation. Then, you can do your best to identify which character they said! If you’ve been here since the previous lesson, you’ll know that QUIZBO™ is always available to listen to in his mobile form as QUIZBO™ mini; so, no worries if you need to have him repeat something, he’s here to help!

Maybe you’re not quite sure about how each of these are read… But, that’s okay as well! If you’re not quite sure of the matching moji  (文字, characters), you can still guess to study/revise. Or, if you want something a bit more concrete, be sure to visit the Kiki+Koko: Let’s NihonGO!! blog or online site where we have a whole lesson for you on how to read from あいうえお to– well, the current lesson! QUIZBO™ is there to help you read as well!

As for this quiz: the overall questions are in the same order each time, but the answers are randomised, so you can always return or refresh to study/revise!

So, without further ado:

And, that’s all for now! How was it? Did you get them all correct? Were they a bit tricky? No worries! You can refresh and retake this as many times as you wish, whenever you wish. For most, it’ll take more than one or two exposures before these characters become easier to use, read, and recognise, and it always takes a bit of time for them to become as second nature as your native alphabet. But, again, with patience, dedication, and a positive way of looking at things, you can do it! We know you can. And, if you’re advanced and already feel this is second nature, then don’t hold yourself back, now! Try your hand at some grammar, vocabulary, and sentence creation! Maybe even go back to some very early lessons in order to keep them fresh in your mind or remember how much you’ve learnt so far. No matter how far you’ve travelled in your Japanese language and culture studies, it’s important to cherish each milestone. It can motivate you to your next step and strengthen the steps you’ve already made. No matter where you are in your journey or where your steps will lead you, we’ll be there for you every step of the way!
